La Sobremesa invites you to “Is Another Technology Possible? Another Technology Is Possible,” a call for creative approaches to the problem of today’s technologies becoming too familiar, too present, too real—while their future remains too strange, too alien, too foreign.

This in-person gathering will bring together special guests and curious minds to collectively un-think technology as it has been etched into our lives. Through conversation and creative inquiry, we will imagine technological methods that emerge from its present strangeness—technologies that are low-tech, situated, and plural.

This evening is curated by Ana Prendes, who is a curator at Arts at CERN as well as a writer, and producer specialised in the crossovers of art, science, technology, and society. On this evening, she has invited a very special cohort of people to join her in a panel discussion and workshop.

The evening will offer attendees the chance to identify and propose how to make another technology possible from their own experiences and through a conversation between Ana Prendes (Arts at CERN), Sylvan Rackham, William Morgan, (co-founders of Restless Egg, an incubator for artist-founders), as well as artist Libby Hoffenberg (RCA).

There will be drinks, and music throughout the evening, fostering an environment where creativity and conversation take center stage.

Audio investigator, musician and architect, Fabio Cervi will present his work with Earshot, the world's first not-for-profit organisation producing audio investigations for human rights and environmental advocacy.

Come join us for an unforgettable night at Shai Space! Fabio Cervi will present his investigative work at Earshot and introduce Zifzafa, a video-game fighting green colonialism in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights (Al Jawlan). Arcadia Molinas, writer, poet, and Worms Magazine editor, will be hosting a writerly evening, taking us through her writing life thus far and offering exercises and prompts to tune into your creativity using different mediums. After the workshop there’ll be the opportunity to read and share what you’ve written with the group, if you so desire.

Hailing from London, Will and Wafia make Queen Sacrifice (@queensacrificemusic); an eclectic pop duo combining mellow acoustics with heartfelt undertones.

La Sobremesa by M-O Connects presents: Miyeok-Guk Film Screening & Live Music by Natalie Wildgoose

This event is going down at the M-O Connects hub in Shai Space. Join us for a special evening of film, music, and good company as we celebrate the work of filmmaker Moon Seungseung!

We'll be screening Moon Seungsung's short film, "Miyeok-Guk." Moon, born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, is a filmmaker and visual artist now based between Plymouth and London, UK. Since moving to the UK in 2016, she has used still and moving images as her primary means of communication, exploring and expressing the nuances of different cultures.

Her short film Miyeok-guk (2024) is a deeply personal exploration of her childhood, capturing the experiences that have shaped who she is today. The film reflects on feelings of cultural exclusion during her upbringing and her journey to embrace her heritage in a new world. Utilizing mixed media, including Super 8 footage and 35mm still images developed with seaweed, Moon creates a unique narrative that bridges her past and present, offering a poignant reflection on identity and belonging.

Following the screening, we'll be treated to a live music performance by Natalie Wildgoose, from the band Wanderland, a North Yorkshire and London-based duo of singer-songwriter Natalie Wildgoose and pianist Matt Robinson.
